Newsletter 19th May 2011
Dear Parents
The Breck Primary School has been specially selected as a “pilot” school for the new OFSTED Inspection format. Our inspection will be next week.
We are aiming to be graded as “outstanding” in all categories, we would appreciate your support, all the staff are very busy making sure everything is “spot on”.
Although this is a pilot for a new format, this will be our official inspection. Thank you for your continued support, it is very much appreciated.

In School
- The children who will be starting in reception next year have just been informed. When you get a chance I’m sure you’ll make them really welcome.
- Miss Cushing will be starting her maternity leave in July. We are interviewing in school this week to appoint her replacement.
- Mrs Richardson wanted everyone to know that she’s doing well after her first treatment session and thanks everyone for their kind wishes.
- Mrs Coates will be returning to school in June after her maternity leave. She will be teaching in the reception class with Miss Snape and Miss Beverley. Mrs Coates is an experienced reception/year 1 teacher and we are all looking forward to her return. We are working hard to ensure that the children are settled and secure. Thank you for working with us.
Security
We are always trying to improve things at school. You may have noticed the new locks on the gates. It may be slightly more inconvenient but we’re sure you’ll appreciate what we’re trying to do for your children.
Uniform
Our mountain of unnamed uniform is growing daily!!! Please label everything –
- Being smart at school is very important. Please ensure that your child is wearing appropriate uniform (eg plain socks)
- A pair of plain stud type earrings and a wrist watch are the permitted jewellery.
- If your child can’t find their PE kit we would rather they brought an appropriate substitute until they locate it rather than miss out on valuable exercise.
Parking
DO NOT PARK ON THE ZIG ZAGS.
DO NOT OBSTRUCT ACCESS TO BRECKSIDE CLOSE or HOMES IN NEIGHBOURING STREETS.
TRY NOT TO PARK ON FOULDREY AVENUE AT ALL IF POSSIBLE
Attendance
Children with attendance under 90% = 6
Children with 100% attendance = 46
- Being late counts against your child’s attendance
- Holidays during term time are recorded as unauthorised absences from school (Unless there are exceptional circumstances.)
- We are aware that sometimes absences are unavoidable i.e. illness, appointments etc and that some children and parents get disappointed when they miss out on a 100% award at the end of term. All of us try hard to make sure that children get as many register marks as possible. What is really important is that children recognise how important it is to try to be in school, ready to learn, every day.
