For the second year running, Take a Break's monthly fiction magazine, Fiction Feast, has joined forces with bestselling author and screenwriter, Anthony Horowitz, to celebrate Britain's young writing talent in the Young Fiction Writer of the Year competition.
Schools have a great opportunity to encourage their students to give free rein to their story ideas. There are three age categories – 8-11, 12-14 and 15-18 – with one winner from each group plus runners up. With a deadline of 23 July, there should be plenty
of opportunity for students of all ages to participate.
The three first prize winners will receive an Apple laptop, meet
Anthony Horowitz and have their stories published and illustrated in a special edition of Take a Break's Fiction Feast. In addition, their school library will also receive
£1000 worth of books.
Many more entries will be featured in the special edition of the magazine.
THE STORIES
The story can be about anything the young writers like. It could be a mystery, a fantasy, a thriller or about something everyday. However the story
must be between 500 and 1000 words long.
