School Kitchen

At school the in house catering team provides hot and cold freshly prepared meals that are nutritious and meet all national standards recommended for schools. Children choose their lunch during morning registration and the menu changes frequently to match the season and to reflect feedback from the pupil voice.  All children in Reception Class, Year 1 and Year 2 are eligible for the universal free school meal (this benefit is not means tested) and we encourage all KS1 children to take this option.  By accessing a school lunch children develop good habits for life including a more diverse taste, learn healthy eating habits and benefit from developing social skills.

When children move to KS2 they may continue to access a paid school lunch or opt for the flexible lunch offer which means they can choose a school lunch on 1 or more days of the week.  Each week the children’s preferences are uploaded to our secure payment platform for parents to pay either weekly or monthly.  We are a cash free school.

Children may bring a packed lunch from home if they prefer.

We constantly strive to provide the best value by sourcing products from the best and most local suppliers. School meal charges are regularly benchmarked to the Local Authority offer and to other schools.

The cost remains at £2.50 per day for a school dinner or £12.50 per week.

If you are entitled to certain benefits then please register with the Local Authority via their website https://lancashire-self.achieveservice.com/service/Free_school_meals_and_pupil_premium for the Pupil Premium Allocation – not only will this mean you are entitled to free school meals, the school will also fund your school trips and provide a Uniform Allowance from the School Uniform Shop – please ask the school office for further details.

The Pupil Premium releases extra funds to school which means we can invest more in the resources available for all children in school which impacts on our whole school strategy.
